The Green-breasted Mango, Anthracothorax prevostii, is a member of the Trochididae Family of Hummingbirds. They are mid-sized in stature. In Mexico they have a limited distribution being found within the Atlantic Slope from Veracruz southward to Belize and within the Pacific Slope in the States of Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas, at elevations below 975 m (3,200 feet). From a conservation perspective the Green-breasted Mango is currently considered to be of Least Concern with stable, widely distributed populations. They are found along forest edges and in gardens in humid tropical lowlands. They primarily consume nectar with their diet supplemented with small insects.
