The Tropical Parula, Parula pitiayumi, is a member of the Parulidae Family of World Warblers. They are small in stature. In Mexico they are found in the coastal regions within the Atlantic Slope from the United States border southward in the States of Tamaulipas, Tiaxcala, Hidalgo, Puebla, and Veracruz and within the Pacific slope from Sinaloa to Oaxaca at elevations below 1,800 m (5,900 feet). From a conservation perspective the Tropical Parula is currently considered to be of Least Concern with stable, widely distributed populations. They are found in both humid and semi-arid forests residing in tall trees and mangroves. They primarily consume insects and spiders with their diets supplemented with seasonal berries.
