The Western Bluebird, Sialia mexicana, is a member of the Turdidae Family of Thrushes and Allies. They are small in stature. In Mexico they are found in the central plateau from Sonora to Nuevo León south to Puebla at elevations up to 2,440 m (8,000 feet). From a conservation perspective the Western Bluebird is currently considered to be of Least Concern with stable, widely distributed populations. They are found in coniferous and deciduous woodlands, wooded riparian areas, grasslands and farmlands. They consume seasonal fruits and seeds on a seasonal basis supplementing their diets with insects.
